Welcome to the Mary Ward Legal Centre

The Mary Ward Legal Centre provides free, independent advice to people who live and work in London to help them access their legal rights and entitlements. We provide specialist advice in housing, welfare benefits and debt. We also provide free legal advice as part of our pro bono clinic in the areas of: employment, housing, small claims, consumer, and family.

How to access our advice service

CHRISTMAS CLOSURE: we are closed from 23 December and re-open on 6 January.

Our office is open Monday to Friday 9:30 to 5:30 (closed 1:00-2:00). We are based in Holborn at 10 Great Turnstile, WC1V 7JU. You can attend in person if you have a pre-booked appointment or if you want to be assessed by our Access to Legal Services Team to see if we can assist – this will involve one of our Access to Legal Services Advisers taking details of your enquiry to pass onto the legal teams to see if we can assist – you will need to arrive by 16:30 else we may not be able to assess you that day. You will not be seen by one of our legal advisers on that day – you will need to be assessed first and then offered an appointment. If it is clear to the Access to Legal Services Adviser that your enquiry is not a matter we advise on or our service is at capacity they will signpost you to another appropriate service.

Housing advice

We are not taking any new housing enquiries until 2 January 2025. You will be able to contact us after this date by either completing an online form, which will be available from 2 January or calling us from that date.  Below are some alternative advice providers.

Debt advice

For online enquiries please complete the form at this link which will assist us to understand and assess your case by helping you to provide the relevant information. We will not be reviewing forms received after 20 December until 6 January.
